What Volunteers Do
CSV volunteers give their help to people of all ages:
- People with learning or physical disabilities
- People who are homeless
- Young people with emotional or behavioral difficulties
- People with mental health problems
- Young people involved in the Criminal Justice system
Volunteers provide support in different settings:
- One to one with individuals or families in their own homes
- With small groups in residential settings, hostels or day centers
- With large groups in residential settings, or in schools
- Supporting students at University
There is individuality to each role but here are some of the most common range of tasks volunteers may be involved in:
- Being a friend, companion, mentor
- Providing support to enable access to leisure, social, employment or educational activities
- Academic support
- Providing help and support with tasks e.g.
- Household tasks such as cleaning, cooking, washing
- Practical tasks such as, getting from A to B, budgeting
- Personal tasks such as
washing, toileting, and dressing
